BOSS Magazine Sits Down With Gregorian Lytton (GQueue Clothing™)

SECOND LIFE'S FASHION FRONTIERSMAN: Gregorian Lytton and His Journey To Save Male Fashion

▶ Article By: BOSS Magazine* (Magnolya Citron)
▶ Art By: PURE* (Silas Gabardini)

If there was ever an example of the perfect Model Business Man in SL, Gregorian Lytton would be it. For Years Many of second Life's Male Population voiced their concern over the limited amount of attention being paid to them by the fashion industry and now Lytton has answered the call. With His keen business sense and high quality style and designs, there is no wonder GQueue Clothing is one of the fastest growing male clothing lines on the grid.

When I arrived at the GQueue Business office located on the Chicago sim, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, " Take Your time hun", Lytton said dismissing my apologies for the wait. Once I finally rezzed, there was a well dressed Gentleman quietly seated and patiently waiting for me to hit Him with a list of Questions. Initially, I wanted to jump straight into my list, but I couldn't help but notice the relaxing Vibe of His office, The Luxurious furniture and high quality of colors and texture made this the type of place hard to leave. This was an office any designer would appreciate, so of course I complimented.

"Thank You. This is where I come to Photoshop." He said.
When i finally brought my focus back to the list of questions beside my laptop, I asked the first and most obvious one. How did it all start?? " I come over from a game called the Sims2 online.I used to make clothes there as well. So when I came into this world I didn't like the clothes they had for men. I don't do the one leg rolled up stuff. So I started making my own stuff." He explained, being a Sim player myself, I deviated from the list to talk more about His sim-playing days, " I had all the expansions, even made content for it such as appliances and stuff , " He laughed .

When Gregorian Lytton brought His skill set and ideas to the Second Life platform, it wasn't long before GQueue Clothing was born, " GQueue was born from the original store I had with My First Partner, Nia Greene, When we went our separate ways I started GQueue(2008). I wanted it to be successful and the Go to Spot for Men casual Urban Attire," After the separation of His first Partnership, Lytton found it easier to work Independently, " All decisions are made by me and I believe I have a good Business sense and Business mind."

However , even with a good business sense, Second Life is a platform that caters to consumers around the world and business cant exist without challenges, " Its cool to have one target audience or demographic. But I'm currently branching out to the Latin and German communities as well. But the Language Barrier is sometimes difficult to overcome, " He explained.

Other then Business formalities and preferring independence over Partnerships, I wanted to know His secret. What is it that He attributes to his success in design? What is it that drives the sales of His clothing and keeps His customers coming back for more ? What sets GQueue apart from the rest ??
" Detail, most definitely I buy some of the mesh templates as other designers, but my product will always look different because of the detail I put into each Item, from using real cloth to making seams and stitches ."

Along with using real cloth textures, Lytton also uses real world trends mixed with His own ides for design. " More then half of my summer line concepts was from Items I owned Myself in real life. Then i  also go to the Second Life clubs to see what others were wearing, so I know what not to make before I proceed with a design, " He quickly explained " Nobody likes a Copycat and that is so not Me." He added, Lytton also gave a sneak peek of whats to come for the Fall season. " I've released my two newest Items last week , a sweater outfit with a matching knit beanie and a fleece warm up suit , I have plans to do more those type of outfits in the upcoming week."

Being Neighbors with Serenity Groove Radio on Chicago sim, Lytton expressed the importance of His relationship with the Station and its Owner Silas Garbardini. " Its very important We see other Business Owners from other communities, Latin, German ,Japanese , working together to complete a common goal and be successful. That is the vision that Silas and I have , There is already enough feuding and competition within the black community in real life , No need to bring that same aspect of realism to a virtual world . People would be amazed what they can accomplish if they just lay down their egos ."

Lucky for Lytton , Laying down the Ego and picking up effective business strategies has been a proven key to success in-world and online for GQueue Clothing. Even if You're not a part of GQueue Clothing's growing facebook fan base , You're still subject to see a good amount of their marketing material roll across your news feed, sometimes on a daily basis . Lytton expressed the importance of always keeping priorities in perspective , " I'm not one to go club-hopping and things like  that, always business first>"

However, He believes the most important attribute to the life of GQueue Clothing  brand is operating in a real life mindset , " I would  say real life keeps me grounded when it comes to Second Life. I try to pattern GQueue Clothing after real Business. And its a great source of Income . So I always try to look at it as a part-time job instead of recreation." He shared his piece of advice for any upcoming designers , " It takes Details, Details, Details and also patience . You may not be a well known designer over night but as long as  you put passion into what you make and have detail in it your reputation will grow accordingly . Another hidden aspect would be customer service . That's a very big thing . It Always keeps the consumer coming back ."

Lytton also explained why Boss Magazine is beneficial to the Second Life Male population as consumers and Business men alike ." It Broadens the exposure of business . A lot of people don't come into world on a daily basis , but if they had something they could see and read about a particular business or event , it may draw them to come in-world and check  it out for themselves. Be it good or bad in the business world , as far as advertising is concerned all exposure is a good exposure.

And the exposure continues for Gregorian Lytton and the GQueue Brand. He recently launched GQueue Radio (http://wow-wiki-forum.com:8168) which is dedicated to old school , hip hop and R&B and GQueue Clothing inworld at Chicago City/172/245/0 or on marketplace at http://marketplace.secondlife.com/store10693.
